Always make those above you feel comfortably superior. In your desire to please or impress them, do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite – inspire fear and insecurity. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.
Not everyone is capable of doing so. The majority of human beings don't want to waste time making those who are above them feel superior. We're all trying to get to that top spot; not make the top dog feel like that's his permanent position. I think that's why a majority of us aren't at the top. The minute we make the head honcho insecure and threatened is the second they will do whatever is in their power to throw us right back to the end of the ladder.
It is possible to reach the top while approaching it in an alternative way. Keep the head honcho thinking he's better than he really is. Chances are, he will be completely blinded by feeling so that by the time he realizes what's going on, you will already have surpassed his status.
